Hey Jaime, I looked into making a new default page.

Take a look at this discussion to edit the new page layout. If you need further help let me know.

Hey James,

Just wanted to ask, what background music would you use for the "Paper Rock Scissors" body percussion activity?

Thanks!

Welcome Lindi,

This activity itself as a fun and easy accompaniment to get an entire group involved, and then you may prompt individuals to freestyle along with the body percussion music. I often try to freestyle myself, which... doesn't sflow or rhyme to well, but my willingness to try anyways seems to motivate my groups. Perhaps you could provide a paper hand-out and then "freestyle" written responses, thoughts, comments, etc. Also, you could prepare some sort of call and response activity, or this beat could even be used for discusing and singing mantras.

When I do prefer background music to help this or any other body percussion activities, I find something (preferrably familiar and preferred) with a strong, steady beat; For example, I've cut and looped (with GarageBand) the intro to "Heartbeat" by Herbie Hancock from his album, "Mr. Funk." In general, explore most subgenres of rock.

Hope this helps, and welcome to the MTA.W community!

Hey James,

Thanks for the suggestions with Paper, Rock, Scissors, and such a long, detailed response as that! :)

I will see how I can put it to use in my sessions.

Thanks!

Hi James!

I really enjoyed your presentation at conference, which is what inspired me to sign up on here! Hopefully I will be able to start contributing soon, when I can make some good "sit down and type it out" time.

Thank you so much, and let me know if you have any questions!

Cheers,

I just joined and added a contribution although I am not sure I added it correctly or if the picture showed up correctly on the page.  Could you take a look and tell me what I need to add/change?  Thank you!  The page is Life Story CD Album.
