Just as music can be structured to accomplish non-music purposes, all of these music games can be adapted towards therapeutic objectives! Here is a fun music therapy version of Simon Says.

Activities[]

Group members will each choose percussion instruments to use during the game. The music therapist will lead a trial session so that group members understand how the game is played. The purpose is to use the instruments during the game and also to pass “leadership” on to as many group members as possible during the game play. This can be done by saying at any point, “Simon Says for Briahna to take over,” or whomever. In this way, most if not all group members will get a chance to lead & have the undivided attention of their group.
