Use the song "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus to talk about the struggles of life and how important those struggles are. Play the song and do a lyric analysis afterwards to discuss what the song means and have a discussion on anyone's favorite line (s) (why is it their favorite line?). The second part of the activity is having questions for what the individual's short term and long term goals. Have them list what their goal is for the end of the week, the end of the month, the end of the year, and in 5 years time. Then have them list what obstacles are and will be ahead of them when trying to accomplish these goals.
After they have done the worksheet, have a picture of a mountain to visually represent this list of goals and obstacles. Have them put at the top of the mountain what goal they are trying to reach, then have them draw themselves on where they are on the mountain. Above the mountain (in the sky), have them put their motivators and support networks that will keep them on their climb. Lastly on the mountain have them mark the obstacles behind them (the ones they have overcome already) and the ones in front of them (the ones they still have to face). After everyone in the group has done this, have them share what they wrote on their mountain.
